Learn to create an windows xp style telephone icon.

Start by creating a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.



Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select perspective. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.



Enable add to shape area form the top bar.



Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Warp this rectangle to get a shape as shown.



Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.









Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection. From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection by 2 pixels. Press Ctrl+Alt+D to feather the selection.



Create a new layer and fill it with light blue color.



Change the layer mode to linear dodge.



Duplicate layer. Select and delete the upper rectangle using direct selection tool.



Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.



Place it as shown.



Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool. Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.



Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.



Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.







When you apply the settings, you shape should look something like this.



Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Apply same layer style.


Draw receiver using pen tool apply same layer style.



Create a circle for the dial using elliptical shape tool.



Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create a few circular holes in it.



Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.





Create the cord using brush tool. Create a triangle using polygon shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select warp. Adjust nodes to get the shape as shown.



Select and merge all the layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.




No doubt you'll eventually come to the result to the one below.  Wasn't hard to do was it?
